Waterproof salinity tester - Hanna

MORE INFORMATION

Salinity meter by means of conductivity, Automatic calibration Automatic temperature compensation, Three units of measurement, Automatic switch off, Graphite sensor, Long-life battery

  • Waterproof and also floats!
  • Automatic calibration: a 35.00 ppt solution is used for the calibration and automatically recognizes the calibration mode.
  • Shows the results in parts per thousand (ppt), practical salinity units (PSU) or specific gravity (SG)
  • The salinity readings are made by an amperometric graphite probe that resists oxidation, providing better repeatability in the measurements. The use of graphite also reduces the polarization effect common with testers that use two stainless steel pegs.
  • The accuracy at 25 C / 77 F is ± 0.001 SG

The HI98319 is a digital salinity meter designed specifically for saltwater aquariums and displays the results in parts per thousand (ppt), practical salinity units (PSU) or specific gravity (SG). This waterproof tester uses an amperometric conductivity probe to determine the salt content in the water. This rugged tester displays the readings along with the temperature on a large LCD.

Hanna Instruments HI98319 is a salinity tester made specifically for the saltwater aquarium's enthusiasm and can measure salinity up to 70.00 ppt. The rugged waterproof tester has a thickness of only 0.7 "and is extremely ergonomic, and fits comfortably in your hand. The HI98319 simplifies things with a two-button operation; one for ON / OFF, the other for calibration.

The salinity tester has a large multi-level LCD display that shows ppt, PSU or specific gravity along with the temperature. The temperature can be set to show in oC or oF. An exposed temperature sensor allows rapid automatic temperature compensated measurements. The LCD screen has stability and calibration indicators. A battery percentage level indicator is displayed at startup to alert the user of the remaining power of the available battery.

The salinity readings are made by an amperometric graphite probe that resists oxidation, providing better repeatability in the measurements. The use of graphite also reduces the polarization effect common with testers that use two stainless steel pegs.

Calibration is performed by pressing the dedicated calibration button. Once in calibration mode, the probe is placed in the calibration standard of 35.00 ppt. When the standard value is recognized and stability is achieved, the meter will automatically accept and store the value.

The configuration options include an adjustable automatic shutdown in which the meter can be set to turn off after 8 minutes, 60 minutes or off. To enter the configuration mode, the user presses a button located in the battery compartment.

The HI98319 waterproof salinity tester provides a simple, accurate and cost-effective way to determine the salt concentration in saltwater aquariums.

Meter characteristics | BENEFITS

  • Seawater salinity by conductivity: all salinity measurements displayed on the large multi-level LCD screen are calculated from a conductivity measurement based on known tables, including the International Oceanographic Tables for ppt readings.
  • Choice of units of measurement: shows the results in parts per thousand (ppt), practical salinity units (PSU) or specific gravity (SG).
  • Automatic temperature compensation: conductivity measurements are very sensitive to temperature variations. HI98319 has an exposed temperature sensor for rapid measurement of salinity compensated by temperature.
  • Graphite sensors: reduce the polarization effects of common testers that are used with steel without stan and do not oxidize, which results in reliable and accurate readings.
  • Automatic calibration: a 35.00 ppt solution is used for calibration and is automatically recognized when in calibration mode.
  • Auto power off: selectable from 8 minutes, 60 minutes, or off.
  • Long-life battery: approximately 100 hours of continuous use
  • Plastic case: the 98319 is supplied complete with a meter and 35 calibration envelopes in a durable plastic case.
